We Marched, We Listened, We Demanded Change: Key Takeaways from COP30
Despite being barred from the negotiation rooms, Indigenous Peoples also achieved the most significant advances in Brazilian land demarcation in 20 years. Yet, as Emil Gualinga of the Kichwa Peoples put it plainly: “Indigenous Peoples continue to be excluded… we are often not given the floor.” Read key COP30 takeaways by HIH.
Watch: The Xipaya Woman - Strength and Resistance
Watch ‘The Xipaya Woman — Strength and Resistance’, where village chief Yupã shares how she learned songs, prayers, and the use of medicinal herbs from her elders, knowledge that lives on through intergenerational exchange. More than an individual portrait, the documentary is an invitation to listen—to listen to the forest, to the women, and to everything that still resists within it.

Community Thriving Narratives – Launching Today
Indigenous cinema is not just a form of artistic expression, but a powerful voice that amplifies struggles, strengthens identities, and contributes to political and social change. Community Thriving Narratives honors this truth – an approach that aims not to impose narratives, instead, it promotes communities telling their own stories on their own terms. Learn more about CTN and watch and share the films.
Indigenous Communities Document Their Own Stories of Resistance Through Groundbreaking Filmmaking Partnership
As world leaders prepare for COP30 in Brazil this November, Indigenous communities protecting the world's tropical rainforests too often have been telling their conservation stories through intermediaries, researchers, NGOs, and filmmakers from outside their communities. A groundbreaking new partnership is changing that dynamic, training forest guardians to become filmmakers and document their own realities in their own words.
Women and Planetary Health
Planetary health invites us to recognize something ancient and urgent: that the health of people, ecosystems, and the planet are deeply interdependent, yet any approach to planetary health that does not center women’s climate leadership and community-designed solutions will ultimately fall short and lack long-term durability. Read on to learn about how the health of the planet is not separate from the work of women who hold it together, often unseen and under-resourced.
Black Soldier Fly Frass Shows Promise as Organic Fertilizer for Maize Production in Madagascar
New research published in the peer-reviewed journal Frontiers demonstrates that Black Soldier Fly (BSF) frass – the organic waste produced by BSF larvae – can significantly boost maize production in southeastern Madagascar. The study, conducted by researchers from the Madagascar Biodiversity Center (MBC) and Health In Harmony (HIH), reveals that composted BSF frass increased maize yields by 38% compared to traditional cattle manure, offering a sustainable pathway to address food insecurity in the region.
