Calling for Equity Over Extractivism

Each year, during the giving season, it is with great appreciation and gratitude that we call for your support in expanding Health In Harmony’s work alongside rainforest communities globally.

In 2025, in this decisive decade, as the climate crisis accelerates, disproportionately affecting Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, and local communities in rainforests, HIH’s Equity Over Extractivism campaign calls on our generous colleagues, network, and donors to recognize and resource rainforest communities, now.

By the end of the year, we’re aiming to raise $400,000. Each gift you give will be doubled by our generous match donor, up to $200,000 in the US and $50,000 in Canada.

For centuries, Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant peoples and local communities have protected the rainforest ecosystems that our planet depends on. But extreme deforestation has jeopardized the health of both these communities and the rainforests they call home.

We must prioritize human equity, dismantle extractive systems that harm our planet, and enable community-led solutions that regenerate both people and ecosystems.

Directing funds and resources to Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, and local communities in rainforests is a form of climate justice.
