Craig Sherman

Craig is the co-founder of BuildUp.org, which strives to help young adults become electricians, and Partner Emeritus at Meritech Capital Partners where he invested in companies like Roblox (RBLX), 10x Genomics (TXG), Zulily (Z), GoFundMe, Ethos Life (LIFE), Niantic (‘Pokemon Go’ - acquired by Scopely), Wealthsimple, Self, Aledade, Element Biosciences, and Encoded Therapeutics.

Before joining Meritech, Craig was an entrepreneur and independent board member on eight private company boards and one non-profit board (GeoHazards International).  Craig was the COO at Ancestry, where the team grew annual revenue from less than $10M to over $150M and cash flow from tens of millions of losses to tens of millions in profits (today Ancestry generates over $1B in sales annually). He was the CEO of Cendant Japan and GaiaOnline - each reached $20M in sales and profitability in less than three years but neither grew to be large standalone companies. Craig was also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Benchmark Capital and did a short stint as a senior executive at AIG.

Craig is interested in life science and healthcare organizations that better patients' lives and consumer businesses and non-profits that foster creativity, connection, generosity and well being. What Craig loves most about being a board member is becoming friends with founders and their management team, and leveraging his operating experience and love of people-management to be a trusted sounding board.  He loves a good book, a good walk and time with his wife Sumi, son Kaz, and daughter Kaya.
