Seedlings

176 396

Give a gift that holds the promise of the future this season – give a seedling.

Each seedling is planted and cared for by villagers from around Gunung Palung National Park, restoring previously-decimated land to vibrant, biodiverse rainforest. In 2011 alone, Health In Harmony facilitated the planting of over 33,000 seedlings, planted by scientific methods to understand how to attain the best survival rates, and engaged over 200 people from local communities in reforestation.

Kitchen Gardens

176 1280

Celebrate the bounty of your table this holiday season by giving the gift of sustenance to a family in need in rural Borneo.

The kitchen garden program trains families (primarily widows with children) to have organic gardens to supply themselves with vegetables that are otherwise largely unavailable – and in some cases, to make a living by selling their beautiful produce to other families!

Healthy Mama Kit

176 396

Give women the gift of a good birth and babies the gift of a healthy start – give a Healthy Mama/Healthy Baby Kit!

Many women in the communities around Gunung Palung National Park give birth at home, some with the assistance of an ASRI trained midwife. Infant mortality has dramatically improved through our program, but is still too high. Your gift will help supply Mama kits (drape, scalpel, cord clamp & soap), neonatal supplies and vital midwife training.

A Pair of Goats

176 396

This holiday season, give a pair of goats to a widow and her family – and give the gift of generosity on behalf of your loved ones.

Our highly successful Goats for Widows program has provided nearly 100 widows and their families with goats, giving each of these families the opportunity to have a sustainable livelihood, send children to school, and involves previously marginalized widows directly in the local sustainable economy. This is truly a gift that keeps on giving!

A Cow

176 396

Make it possible for these farmers to keep on transforming their local economy and make a sustainable living by giving a cow!

The organic farm collective is wildly successful, producing organic rice and vegetables and making a livelihood for the farmers involved. But they need one thing: more cows. The manure that these cows produce is a key “ingredient” in making compost.

Orangutan Habitat

176 396

Reconnect orangutan families and support the survival of this species by funding the replanting of an acre of vital orangutan habitat.

Nearly 10 percent of the world’s remaining wild orangutans live in Gunung Palung National Park, and one of the biggest threats to these gentle red apes is habitat loss. We educate the local communities on how to steward remaining forests, and we replant those areas that have been devastated. Our next initiative is to replant a corridor between two larger tracts of land to connect two isolated groups of orangutans.
