Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI) is an innovative non-profit in West Kalimantan Indonesia that is seeking a conservation manager to work with us to help save Gunung Palung National Park – one of the biological wonders of the world and home to about 10% of the world’s remaining orangutans. Our work at ASRI provides fair transactions of community-selected services in return for rain forest conservation and we have seen a dramatic decline in logging in our first five years. Community-selected services include the provision of high quality health care and training in sustainable agriculture techniques as an alternative to illegal logging.

Your job would be overseeing, coordinating and assisting a team of about 10 amazing Indonesian staff members and the programs they manage which include:

-Reforestation of critical orangutan habitat with native species
-Sustainable Agriculture Extension Work
-Goats for Widows/Livestock husbandry
-Conservation education
-Illegal logging monitoring

In addition, you would take primary responsibility for doing the visioning behind:

-Continuing program performance evaluation
-Maintenance and continual refinement of conservation incentives
-Continuing long-term conservation planning

You are:

-Culturally sensitive
-Open minded, creative and innovative
-Willing to live in a small village in Borneo
- Ideally, bi-cultural and bi-lingual (Indonesian and English-speaking) Indonesian and English speaking – or really good at learning languages and willing to learn fast
-Willing to make a two-year commitment
-Able to serve as a liaison between ASRI and its partner organization, Health In Harmony and supporters in the U.S.

You have:

-A Masters degree in a relevant field and two years experience or an undergraduate and four years field experience working in a tropical country
-statistical analysis and data management experience

Salary commensurate with experience and with relation to in-country standards.
